A short diary (log) of my activities
Day 1 - Sunday 13.6.2004
Bergamo, Girona, Barcelona...
Starting at 06:15 at Bozen with Thomas's BMW 320d car to Bergamo / Italy. Meeting with some boys of Rentsch at the Airport. A little shaky fly of Ryanair to Girona. On 1 PM pickin up the Bus to Barcelona. Buying the T-Mes-Ticket for 38,30 and finding Esther's home. Two hours later Nisha from the U.S. comes to the homestay. Her flying company hasn't delivered in time the luggage. Bacause this we tried to buy a telephone card and looked for open shops at Sunday.

Day 2 - Monday 14.6.2004
Rambla, Badalona Beach...
Making the classification test. It was rather complicate for me, because I has'nt have never spanish grammar. After the oral test, the teacher puts me in the first level class. I begun with the class at 11:00 with other 8 guys. After class going with Sarah & Nisha to Rambla and doing "all you can eat" for 7,4 Euros at FrescCo in Carme 16 (sidestreet of Rambla). Buying a dictionary at the fnac in Plaza Catalunya: Langenscheidt Diccionario Básico Alemán for 9,45 Euros. Getting a mobile phone card at Telefonica in Ronda de San Pedro 9: the "MoviStar Activa" for 25 Euros (19 Euro for phoning) with the number 690 144659.
After getting at home swim suite and towel pickin the train to Badalona for a rather empty beach. But it was nice. Later we went to the Olimpic port and look a bit arround there before going home.

Day 3 - Tuesday 15.6.2004
Changing homestay, Port Olimpic & Alemana-Netherlands
At school in the break Esperança (the secretary) told me and Nisha that we have to change our homestay because at Esthers's home there was a big problem with the water. I leave to the direction of Sagrada Familia. One block from this central touristical point i had my new home at Mercer's appartment. The room was much better equipped and nicer. After I went to the port Olimpic and travelled a little there. At the evening we meet us at a bar in the Aribau street for the soccer game Germany-Netherland. The game was good and ends 1:1. After we went with some girls to a dancing bar a little distant.

Day 4 - Wednesday 16.6.2004
Parc de Montjiuc, Platja Nova Icària, Barceloneta
After school and drinking/eating we (me with Sarah, Nisha, Eva Marie, Carmen, Janina) meet for taking a sightseeing tour to Montjuic. Taking the metro to the Paral-lel station with the green line we use after (with the same TMB ticket) the "Funicolar the Montjuic". From there we walked trough gardens to the "Estadi Olimpic de Montjuic" and visited the near other Olimpic places. After we went down to the city to the "Palau Nacional" and trough the "Reina M. Cristina" to the "Plaza Espanya". From there with the metro we went to Ciutadella Olimpica and we walked to the Platja de Nova Icaria, a nice beach where we taked a seat at a cool cuban style beach bar and drunk.
At night I went to Barceloneta for a first seafood dinner at "Nou Can Tipa" in Passeig Joan de Borbo. It was a "menu del dia" for 15 Euros..

Day 5 - Thursday 17.6.2004
Platja del Bogatell, Barceloneta
School. Later me with Sarah, Nisha, Eva Marie, Carmen, Janina meet for going with the metro to station Poblenou, buying some drink & food in a supermarket and then to the Platja del Bogatell. It was very hot and even if the water was in the first moments cold, after it was very fine to swim. From here we went back to home.
I again visited Barceloneta for a dinner at the Por-v Ell in
Passeig Joan de Borbo 20. It was a fried fish with breath and water for 24 Euros.

Day 6 - Friday 18.6.2004
Peluquero, Siesta, Shopping, El ultimo Samurai
After school I went to a "peluquero" right behind my homesty: Iglesias Vide. There he shortened my hair for 7,5 Euro. After i was lying down at my bed in my room and fall in a siesta sleep.
Woked up i started a little shopping tour but the most interesting I bring to home was a "street copy" of the movie "El ultimo samurai" for 5 Euros. Later I watched this rather long movie on my laptop. A very beautyful experience: a nice story and my first spanish movie.

Day 7 - Saturday 19.6.2004
Late breakfast, shopping, Alemana-Latvia, Abierto hasta el amanacer
Long sleeping and then after the breakfast leaving for some shopping. I needed some other clothing stuff. At the "El Corte Ingles" I got Basketball shoes from Adidas (ClimaCool BB) for 77 Euros and a T-Shirt from Booermang Aventura for 20 Euros. I buyed also the DVD "Abierto hasta el amanacer", the spanish version of From dusk till dawn, for the cheap price of 6,95 Euros.
At the same bar in the Aribau street we meet for the Eu-football game Germany-Latvia, a really annoing game. Most of the time I spoked with Tim, a classmate of me, from San Francisco, whos parents comes from Bavaria. Afterwards I went home and watched the buyed movie.

Day 8 - Sunday 20.6.2004
Late breakfast, Parc de la Ciutadella, Espana-Portugal, Matrix
Long sleeping and then after the breakfast leaving for a sightseeing tour to Barceloneta. Walking along the harbour to the Platja de Sant Sa??? and Platja de Barcelonata. Through the tight streets of Barceloneta back to the Estacio de Franca and trough La Ribera-Streets to the Arc de Triomf. Then to the Parc de la Ciutadella wich at Sundays is really nice. There really many (private?) drummers meet for a "brasilian style rythm session". After going down to de Metro station and find out a nice Basketball-place where good guys played. At night I went to the abc-student appartments in Gran de Gracia for watching the for spaniards really important game versus Portugal. The game wasn't really interesting and Spain lost and was out of the Euro 2004. After in the first official spanish TV-channel the movie Matrix was shown. Really intersting because I saw part 2 & 3, but never the good first part. In spanish it was funny...

Day 9 - Monday 21.6.2004
Barri Gotic, Catedral, Puchitos
School. After I went again to Barceloneta for walking up to Barri Gotic. The streets are really tipical and I walked by the Palau de la Generalitat and afterwards the impressive Catedral. After seeing the 13 ducks at the outside I went in; really a deep impression. The building with his high gotic style and the much side-chapels dedicated to saints has a really own flavour. After turning back at homestay I run up the hill behind the Sagrada Familia to the Hospital de Sant Pau and to the ??? park and made some exercises to remain fit.
Going to the tourist/student bar "Puchitos" (Aribau 77), where every Monday for 1 Euro you receive "special" drinks (normally 1,5 Euro). Some of the most "heavy" drinks: Monika Lewinsky, Pistola, Full Metal Jacket.

Day 10 - Tuesday 22.6.2004
Museu d'Història de Catalunya, S.W.A.T.
To lazy to go to school. But after 12:00 going to the PC room. Then turning back to Sagrada Familia and eating at the Babilonia seafood. Then I finally got the chance to satisfy my interest in Catalan history: After beeing ther 2 times and the museum was closed I finally visited the Museu d'Història de Catalunya (for 3 Euros). From the beginnings a long time ago, over the Greeks, Romans, Visigoths, Arabics, Knights & Lords, Kings, wars to the modern situation and history how Catalunya has become autonomous again in the 1980s. For me really interesting, because in South Tyrol we has a similiar situation. At this museum I also saw a modell of the supposingly finished Sagrada Familia. Really gigantic.
After I buyed a other "streetmovie" in spanish and watched that: S.W.A.T. - funny and with action

Day 11 - Wednesday 23.6.2004
Platja de la Nova Icària, Sushi, long St. Joan night
At this day I tooked some pictures of Ana & Alberto at the school. Also after a first exchange of pics from Chupitos in the PC room. After I meet with my new friends (Massimo, Thomas, Chung-Wei & Co) at the Platja de la Nova Icària. Manly it was cloudy but sometimes the sun was shining. We had some fun with "water-tatoos"- After we went to Cho - a really fine japanese sushi restaurant behind Plaza Catalunya. After we went home.
Later naturally it was time to go to the beach. The Sant Joan night is a big "fiesta" in Barcelona. Later a newspaper wrote about 170.000 people where on the beaches. The metro was fuller than immaginable: a gratis sauna. We meet again, but with many of the other abc-guys and other people at the Platja de la Nova Icària before the cuban-style bar. There we dance all the night and some of us (included me) until the sunrise. Allways accompanied by fireworks, the bangs of the "petardos" and naturally good beach dance music. An amazing experience: If possible visit Barcelona at the 23-24th june.

Day 13 - Friday 23.6.2004
last school day, Catalan Restaurant
Last day in my abc class. Taking some pictures also on the "teraza". At the evening meeting at a tipical old style Restaurant recommanded by my homestay mother Mercè Cintas: The Catalan Restaurant La Dida (Roger de Flor 230). A place that was adorable: classic atmosphere with music (Fridays), relaxed, with very attentive waiters and delicious meals. And at a good price. Is recommended to everyone who stays in Barcelona! Later we went in direction Via Augusta, but only Karl, ChungWei and I then still pulled by the area and found a nice "House Music" Dancebar, where we remained until the closing time.

Day 14 - Saturday 25.6.2004
Last places & back to home
On my last day I visited with the Metro some outher places of Barca: Sagrera, Horta, Montbau, Zona Universitària. After I had not enough time to make some pics with Mercè and after a shower I had to leave quickly for the Girona bus point. But all was going fluidly, I only missmatched the last possible boarding time with the last possible! But no problem. After i had to go with bus from Bergamo to Milano and after not so quickly with the Train to Verona and Bozen.
